Problem:

Why am I unable to add files to StarTeam?

Description:

When adding files, the CPC"s "Add Files" Dialog says "Committing revision to the vault.", then a message appears "Permission denied".

Answer/Solution:

In situations like this, typically a virus scanner or spyware sweeper is scanning the repository folder and open handles on repository files are created by 3rd party tools. These open handles are not taken into account by StarTeam server so it is highly recommended that all virus scanners and 3rd party tools have exception rules ommitting the root repository folder for each application.

The fix for this error is to simply reboot the server, which?releases whatever handle locks might be in place on the repository.
