Problem:

Error - Fatal application error: Invocation of this java application has caused an invocation target exception

Resolution:

Description:

After install, tries to bring up the GUI and gets the error "Fatal application error: Invocation of this java application has caused an invocation target exception. This application will now exit." Details: Java.lang no such method error. At com.borland.starteam.gui.wing.buttonfactory.configurebutton"unknown source".


Answer/Solution:

1)Check if your remote-session supports a graphical interface.

2)Make sure that the DISPLAY environment variable is set to point to where you are running the command.

Sample command to set DISPLAY in c-shell:

setenv DISPLAY *hostmachine*:0.0

where *hostmachine* is the IP address or host-name of the remote machine (eg: mymachine.domainname.companyname.net

3) As per the release notes for this product, JRE version 1.4.2_01-b06 is required for StarTeam Cross-Platform Client 2005.

Please modify the StarTeamCP.lax in the bin directory of the StarTeam Cross-Platform Client installation folder as follows:

# LAX.NL.CURRENT.VM
# -----------------
# the VM to use for the next launch

lax.nl.current.vm=

Please change this option to point to JRE 1.4.2 and then, save the file.
Please re-start the StarTeam Cross-Platform after that.
