When logging into StarTeam using the CPC (Cross Platform Client) for Windows the following error is thrown:

ERROR- cannot create Java virtual machine

This error can be resolved in some instances by reducing the memory allocation in the StarTeamCP.STJava file.

To resolve follow these steps:

1. Browse to the StarTeam Cross-Platform Client installation directory

   C:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam Cross-Platform Client 2009

2. Open "StarTeamCP.STJava" with a text Editor and note the value held for "options=-Xmx: 1024m"

By default this value is set to "options=-Xmx1024m"
If there is high usage of machine resources the available memory may fall short of this amount of allocated memory

3. If this value is too high change to "options=-Xmx512m" and try to log in again

If this does not resolve the problem please contact Technical Support.
