Problem:

Why do I get "Exception in thread CacheClientThread java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -10 [or another number]"?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2006 (9.0, 9.1, 9.2)
  • Product Component: Bulk-Checkout Utility (BCO)
  • Platform/OS Version: All Supported OS

Description:

During the course of using the BCO normally, you encounter this error seemingly randomly. For instance, when you check out an item you see the following exception:

Exception in thread "CacheClientThread" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -10 [or another number]
at sun.util.calendar.BaseCalendar.getCalendarDateFromFixedDate(Unknown Source)
at java.util.GregorianCalendar.computeFields(Unknown Source)
at java.util.GregorianCalendar.computeFields(Unknown Source)
at java.util.Calendar.setTimeInMillis(Unknown Source)
at java.util.Calendar.setTime(Unknown Source) ......

Answer/Solution:

This is a known issue in the current version of the 2006 SDK and is planned to be fixed in a future release. The workaround is to use 2005 R2 BCO, which is unaffected.
