Problem:

When editing a revision of a file, the editor doesn"t display the file name."

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2006, 2006 R2, 2008
  • Product Component: CPC, VCM
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP

Description:
1. When editing a revision of a file (under history tab, right-click and choose View Revision Content), the editor doesn’t display the file name. It displays some other identifier like (i.e. hist18572.pas) 2. Similar to #1, file names are not displayed when comparing two revisions of the same file.

Answer/Solution:
Change Request 45319 exists to address this issue. It has been duplicated in StarTeam 2006 R2 build 47 as well as the new 2008 (10.x) builds. Behavior is easily replicated and causes confusion when using previous revisions. For example, if you edit a revision and want to save it to your hard drive from the editor, it does not use the file"s real name.

If this is causing issues with an organization, the administrator can log a support case and ask that they be added to the above CR.
