CGI Error when attempting to access the TrackRecord WebServer

This article explains why errors related to HTTP headers occur after typing in name and password in the WebServer Login page.

Problem:

After I type my name and password in the WebServer Login page, I get the following Error:

CGI Error The specified CGI application misbehaved by not
returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

The rest of the page is blank. What is happening?

Resolution:

This issue is most often caused by incorrect application permissions on the CGI-WIN virtual directory. Please try the following steps to correct this:

IIS 4.0

  1. Open the IIS Service Manager.
  2. Right click the CGI-WIN virtual directory and select properties.
  3. In the Application Setting frame, there is a check box titled, "Run in separate memory space (isolated process)". Make sure this check box is not selected.

IIS 5.0

  1. Open the IIS Management Console.
  2. Right click the CGI-WIN virtual directory and select properties.
  3. In the Application Setting frame, there is a drop down combo titled, "Application Protection". Make sure "Low (IIS Process)" is selected.

Other things to check include:

  • If you are using NTFS on your server, verify that the SYSTEM account has Full Control permission to both the CGI-WIN directory and the TEMP directory.
  • Verify that the CGI-WIN virtual directory is set to Execute including Script access.
