Avoiding timeout errors when rebuilding a database

Problem:

My database has grown large, how do I avoid timeout errors when attempting to rebuild my database using the Database Administration Utility?

Resolution:

After receiving the timeout error, the rebuild will actually continue to run in the background. You can also avoid this error altogether. Rbuild32.exe is the executable that runs rebuilds and is located in the TrackRecord directory. If you execute this from DOS, no timeout value will apply. As with running rebuilds from the Database Administration Utility, you need to stop the FairCom Service in order to do this. Usage is as follows:

  1. From a command prompt, navigate to the TrackRecord directory. Type: Rbuild32.exe <path to database folder>. Then type: <path to database folder>

Here is an example where MYDATABASE would be the:

"C:\Progra~1\Compuw~1\TrackR~2\rbuild32.exe"

"C:\Progra~1\Compuw~1\TrackR~1\databa~1\MYDATABASE"
