Problem:

What is causing the follow errors in the Star Team log?
Exception thrown from Unknown: Class = SA_DBMS_API_Error, Code = 233(0x000000e9) Msg = Shared Memory Provider:
No process is on the other end of the pipe. Communication link failure 193
Server dropped a bad database connection.

Resolution:

These errors are generated in the log file when the connection between StarTeam and the database is broken.  The database may have failed or be temporarily unavailable.  If the connection to the database is restored Star Team will reconnect gracefully.  However, even though Star Team and Database can recover it is recommended that the Star Team Server is restarted to flush out the cache and and any orphaned database connections.
