  Answer/Solution:
  

  By default, Starteam windows client will use the Windows login as the user name. If there is an unknown user name that the Starteam client is defaulting to, it is because the Windows OS was started with the unknown user name as the login.
  So to change to the default user name in Starteam, please have the user log in to Windows OS with a different login name.
