Problem:

Borland Search Server - Is running st_security.bat an one-time process?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version:All
  • Product Component: Borland Search Server
  • Platform/OS Version: All

    Question:

Borland Search Server is installed and an instance has been added via the BSS admin console. Borland Search security is then configured and security data is extracted by modifying security-config.xml and running st_security.bat.

Following that, real time indexer and extractor is run for that instance.

Supposed the access control list is modifed again at this point (eg. deny user A of the access of project B), is it neccessary to run st_security.bat one more time?

    Answer:

st_security.bat needs to be run every time there is a change to the access control list.

The security data generated by st_secuity.bat is harvested by Borland Search Server. Once harvested, it is static. There is no mechanism in place to update the security data automatically. The security data must be re-harvested periodically by running st_security.bat.
