Problem:

File Compare Merge does not correctly show differencces some of the time.

Description:

Sometimes when comparing two files, StarTeam does not correctly compare them. Either both panes are white (no differences) or both sides are yellow (the entire file is different).

Answer/Solution:

This issue is caused by the default File Encoding used in File Compare Merge. Sometimes, FCM does not properly detect the file encoding. This causes the compare results to be incorrect or misleading. When this occurs, simply select the correct File Encoding from the bottom panel and the FCM should show the correct compare results.
