Problem:

Upon linking a task to a file - why does a linked item not appear under ?List Linked Items? upon file check-in to a floating reference view?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2005 R2
  • Product Component: StarTeam Win32 Client
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

Question:

Upon linking a task to a file - why does a linked item not appear under "List Linked Items" upon file check-in to a floating reference view?

Answer:

This is a known issue in the Windows Client, it does not occur on the Cross Platform Clients (2005 R2 and 2006). Also the issue does not occur on a Branching View.

I have enclosed workarounds below:

Workaround 1

  • Before file check in, select the task tab.
  • Right click on the specific task
  • Select Set as Active Process Item
  • Right click on the file, select Check In
  • The process item will appear under the Link and pin process item, so it?s only a matter of checking the checkbox.
  • Once selected go back to the task and ?Clear Active process item?

Or alternatively you could select "List all permitted items"

Workaround 2

Install the StarTeam Cross Platform Client, available via http://www.borland.com/downloads/download_starteam.html
