How can Japanese characters be displayed correctly in StarTeam when using an English Operating System?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: All
  • Product Component: CPC
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

To get the Japanese characters to display correctly users will need to install the Japanese Language Pack for Windows. To do this please following the steps below:

  1. Click START | RUN
  2. In the Run dialog type CONTROL PANEL
  3. Click OK
  4. When Control Panel opens select Regional and Language Options
  5. Click the Languages tab
  6. Select Install files for East Asian languages
  7. You will need to insert the Windows XP disk
  8. Once the disk is detected and the files installed reboot the machine
  9. Once rebooted repeat steps 1 to 4.
  10. Select the "Advanced" tab, and select all relevant code-page conversion tables e.g. 10001 (MAC - Japanese), 20290 (IBM EBCDIC - Japanese Katakana Extended)
  11. Once done reboot the machine.
  12. Once rebooted open the StarTeam Client
  13. Select TOOLS | PERSONAL OPTIONS | WORKSPACE
  14. Select the Advanced button
  15. Change the "Look and Feel" to "Borland" and the Japanese characters should now display correctly.

You may like to try the different "look and feel" options to suit your own preferences however the "Windows" does not always display the mixed characters correctly and should not be used.
