How to Migration StarTeam Projects under SCC To Visual Studio .NET 2005Embedded Client


Answer/Solution:
Assumptions:

  • Existing .NET 2005solution and projects were placed into a StarTeam project using the SCCinterface.
  • A second client machineis being used with the Visual Studio .NET Integration to pull the project tothe second machine.
  • A StarTeam client isinstalled on that machine.
  • Users of the project willall use the Visual Studio .NET client. Mixing of Visual Studio .NET clients andSCC to the same projects is not recommended:

1) Open theStarTeam client and check out all files associated with the project.

2) With Windows Explorerverify that the *.suo file does not exist on disk, it will typically be foundin the same folder that the solution file, *.sln, exists in. If it does exist,delete it.

3) Delete all files on diskthat contain the ?scc? in their extension.

Fromthe command window in the same directory that the solution file exists;
?del *.*scc /s?


IfSCC is not installed on the client system go to step 4.
If SCC is installed on the client system go to step 5

4) If SCC is NOT installed on theclient

Start.NET 2005 and open the solution file on disk.
You will receive this dialog:

Youwill receive this for all projects. Selecting the check box for ?Don?t showthis dialog again? will prevent the re-appearance of the dialog for theremaining projects.

Whencompleted you will receive this dialog:

Select?Permanently remove source control association bindings?, then ?OK?Goto step 9 for the next dialogs.

5) If SCC IS installed on the clientsystem.

Start.NET 2005 and open the solution file on disk.
You will receive the dialog below:

6) Select Cancel, you will receive the dialog below:

7) Select OK and you will receive the dialog below:

8) Select the option to ?Permanentlyremove source control association binds? and then OK.

9) Verify that the source control plug in is set to?Borland StarTeam Source Control Provider? inside .NET 2005.

In.NET, select Tools?Options

10) From .NET select StarTeam?Place Solution asseen below:

11) You will receive the dialog below. Fill incorrectly for the project you are trying to connect

SelectOK.

12) You will receive the dialog below:

SelectOK

13) NET will open as seen below:

14)The same project as viewed in the StarTeam client:
