Problem:

Is it possible to deny a specific group from changing a file"s attributes, but allow them to check in files?

Resolution:

Product Name: StarTeam
Product Version: 2005 R2
Product Component: Server
Platform/OS Version: Windows

Question:

Is it possible to deny a specific group from changing a file"s attributes, but allow them to check in files?

Answer:

No, this is not possible. StarTeam Server provides a certain degree of automatic assistance with access rights.

For example, if you allow a group to check in files, but do not grant its members the right to see the files or file histories, check out the files, change file properties, or lock the files, StarTeam Server automatically gives the group those rights. The system grants these rights because members of the group could not check in files without them.

Although you exited the Access Rights dialog without selecting those check boxes, you will see checkmarks in them the next time you open the dialog and look at the access rights node.
