Problem:

How do you create a view with a specific behavior?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: StarTeam
  • Product Version: 2005 R2
  • Product Component: StarTeam Client
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows

Question:

How do you create a view with this specific behavior?
If an item changes in the child view the change will not propagate back to the parent view, but if a change is made to the parent view it will change in the child view if possible.

Answer:

You can achieve this by creating a "Branch All" view with a "Floating" configuration. This will force items to float from the parent to the child. When an item is changed in the child, it will be forced to branch from the parent and the updates will not be reflected in the parent. Once the object has branched in the child, updates on that object in the parent will no longer float down to it.
