Problem:

How can I configure Web Edition to direct users to the StarTeam application if they don"t enter the entire url in the browser?

Resolution:

• Product Component: Web Edition
• Platform/OS Version: Windows

You can configure IIS to redirect to the StarTeam URL if users forget to append the "/starteam"?to the URL. By default?you need to enter "http://web_server/StarTeam" in order to access StarTeam but using the information below you can have users just enter "http://web_server" and have IIS redirect them to StarTeam.

1. Open the "Properties" page of the Default Web Site, and open the "Home Directory" tab (please see the image below).
   
   
   
2. Select "A redirection to a URL" radio-button
3. Enter http://web_server/starteam for "Redirect to:"
4. Select the "A permanent redirection for this resource" check-box
5. Apply these changes, and restart the IIS service.

Now, whenever users enter http://web_server, they should be automatically redirected to StarTeam WebEdition as before.

Please note, that some users may be prompted that they are being redirected - this is dependant on their security settings.
