    Question:

Why do I get the error ".sln could not be read" when opening a Visual Studio 2005 solution?

    Answer:

This is a known issue with the StarTeam Visual Studio Integration for VS2005. When opening the .sln file this error will appear and may be followed by the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". A new version of StarTeam Integration is now available from http://www.borland.com/downloads/download_starteam.html which resolves this issue.
