Does StarTeam QC Synchronizer synch items from release module?

Answer/Solution:
Release module in QC introduced in QC 9.2, and as long as the release is linked to a defect in QC, StarTeam 2008 QC Synchronizer will synch the defect successfully. Here is the process to accomplish that.

1) From the release module, create a release in QC.

2) From the release module, create a cycle for the release created above.

3) From the defect module, create a new defect, and in the ‘Detect in Cycle’ field, enter the cycle created in step 2 above. The ‘Detected in Release’ field should be populated automatically.

4) Modify your bugSync.ini file to synch the above two fields.

Example -

map.BG_DETECTED_IN_RCYC=Usr_DetectedCycle

map.BG_DETECTED_IN_REL=Usr_DetectedRelease

Running the synch, will allow the value to be in synch between StarTeam and QC. NOTE – If you use StarTeam 2006 QC Synch, you will get the release ID rather than the actual name; however, you will need to use StarTeam 2008 QC Synch in order to get the actual value of release field and cycle field.
