Overview

The error "Error: COM subsystem says: Unspecified error. Offending Visual SourceSafe Object: D:\sourcesafe\srcsafe.ini" occurs when attempting a VSS wrap operation.

Details

This error most commonly occurs when trying to wrap an Archive located on a separate machine than the StarTeam Server machine. The paths in the src="http://files.microfocus.com/filemanager/files/kb/Borland/BorlandKB/16723/>

  1. On the StarTeam Server machine, map a drive (i.e. X:\) to the machine where the VSS archives are located.
  2. Restart the StarTeam server to have it recognize the new mapped drive.
  3. On the machine where the VSS archives are located, modify the src="http://files.microfocus.com/filemanager/files/kb/Borland/BorlandKB/16723/>

For example:

Data_Path = X:\data
Temp_Path = X:\temp
Users_Path = X:\users
Users_Txt = X:\users.txt
