Question:

Parent view has a file name test.c and child view has a test.c which is initially branched from Parent view.

If the contents in Parent view test.c is updated, will the content in Child view test.c get updated automatically as well?

Answer:

The contents in child view test.c will not get updated automatically.
If one would like to update the child view test.c to be the same as the content as master view test.c is updated. One needs to runs View compare Merge(VCM). It would either be a promote or rebase action.

It can be done at

1) Select the file/folder that you want to update-> right click ->Advanced->View Compare/Merge

right click ->Advanced->View Compare/Merge" width="450" border="0" src="http://files.microfocus.com/filemanager/files/kb/Borland/BorlandKB/17028/170281.bmp">

OR

2) Folder Tree ->Advanced->View Compare/Merge

Advanced->View Compare/Merge" width="749" border="0" src="http://files.microfocus.com/filemanager/files/kb/Borland/BorlandKB/17028/170282.bmp">

Note:
However it is possible if the child is initailly created from the Parent view using "Branch All, Float" view type.
Borland recommends against using advanced view types("Branch All, float" AND "Branch None") as they may lead to certain ambiguous merge situations when used with the View Compare/Merge tool.
