Problem:

How to troubleshoot .stjava applications.

Resolution:

Information in this Brief applies to:

  • StarTeam 5.x and 6.x
  • Windows 2000, XP, 2003

Overview

StarTeam applications activated via a .stjava file can display the full call to Java using the following setting change.

Details

Several StarTeam applications use a .stjava file as a launcher. When the application fails to launch the .stjava file has a troubleshooting flag available.

A sample .stjava file for the Workflow Designer follows:

[StJava]
.starbase.starteam.workflow.designer.WorkflowDesignerFrame
starteam=6.0
test=0
[Java VM]
name=Sun1.4.2_01
classpath=D:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam StarFlow Designer\starflow.jar;%CLASSPATH%
librarypath=%LIBRARYPATH%;D:\Program Files\Borland\StarTeam StarFlow Designer
options=

In order to enable the troubleshooting mode the test=0 line can be changed to test=1. This setting will cause a popup window to display the Classpath and Library path used with the command in calling Java to start the application. The information can then be used to ensure the proper files and paths are being referenced.
