Problem:

Why causes the the error, "The server is not connected or the connection parameters are invalid"?

• Platform/OS Version: Unix

If this eror occurs when trying to connect to the StarTeam server from a StarTeam client on a Unix machine, the error indicates the starteam.xml file is missing from the user"s home directory. You may also get the following dialog when opening the client even before attempting to connect to a server.

In order to check the file exists please browse to the following folder,

/home/user_name/.starteam-client/

If the file exists open it and ensure it contains relevant configuration entries such as:

server hostname:port
Unicast On-site

If the file is missing either copy it from another user"s Unix profile or create it using the example above.
