Problem:

When carrying out a VCM promote, only the parent of the source view can be selected. Is it possible to promote to the grandparent?

Resolution:

While this is not possible using the promote VCM operation, the contents of a grandchild view can be promoted to the grandparent by using the VCM replicate operation.

1. Open the grandchild (source) view 
2. Click View | Compare Merge

 

3. Choose Replicate
4. Click Next



5. Choose a configuration.(In most cases current configuration should be used)
6. Click next



7. Choose the grandparent view (target)
8. Click finish
