Problem:

CaliberRM client cannot connect to a CaliberRM server running on Windows 2008 x64.

Resolution:

This could likely be caused by a firewall blocking the connection. To check if this is the case open the orb.properties file found at C:\Borland\CaliberRMServer\Bin and add the following lines ensuring to replace 'my server name' with the actual CaliberRM server name:

vbroker.se.iiop_tp.proxyHost= my server name

vbroker.se.iiop_tp.firewallPaths=internet

vbroker.orb.exportFirewallPath=true

vbroker.orb.dynamicLibs=com.inprise.vbroker.firewall.Init

vbroker.firewall-path.internet=nat

vbroker.firewall.nat.host= my server name

vbroker.firewall.nat.type=TCP

vbroker.firewall.nat.iiop_port=20001

vbroker.firewall.nat.hiop_port=0

If the Windows firewall is running on the server machine then add the following rules:

Outbound rules for:

Caliber_srv (all ports)

Ports 20000 and 20001 (default ports for CaliberRM Server)

CaliberRM.exe

SQM_monitor

Inbound rules for:

CaliberRM.exe

SQM_monitor

With these new firewall rules in place and the orb.properties file updated as per the specification above the CaliberRM client should now be able to connect successfully. If the problem persists contact support.
