Why am I missing / losing requirement data from the DefineIT?
Upon opening DefineIT, a user observes Requirements or other data is missing or lost.
There are no known product defects that cause this symptom. In several cases researching similar reports, we have found that the reporting user is a member of a "shared workspace" style setup and the missing data was the result of deletion by another user, or an unintentional overwrite. In all cases so far, providing additional information to reporting users as below, the problem has not persued.
Caliber DefineIT is designed as a standalone application, and does not accommodate for scenarios in which multiple users access the same workspace, especially simultaneously.
In Caliber DefineIT, the information for Requirements, Scenarios, Actors, and such are stored in a XML formatted file named default.txapackage. The different nodes have properties that dictate how the node is to be interpreted such as a Requirement, Step, Decision. Scenario Diagrams are generated from this information, so there is not actually a "diagram" stored in the file system. Information is stored to this file as items are created, and it is very uncommon for the file to become corrupt as it is very simple in format. Usually dataloss is the result of being overwritten by another user in the same workspace.
