Why do I recieve a C++ Runtime Error when using RM Import?
Usually errors that occur during an RM Import are the result of missing delimiter or extra delimiter in the source file being imported and has been seen when data from the import files has been scrubbed or manipulated prior to the import. An error of this type is reproduceable with just one requirement and is useful for troubleshooting, or if it doesn"t happen with the first requirement you try, break a large import by half, and keeping the half that fails break the import size to half again. Just a few iterations of this can help you narrow the search to a problem requirement without reading through every instance.
RM Import expects to receive a file as created by RM Export and was originally intended to be used for project templates that would imported when creating new projects on the same server.
Sometimes there is a need to use RM Import in other ways to consolidate or split projects, or move basic requirement data from test to production or even using Import Factory to create a Requirement.txt file from a Word or Excel resource to later be used by RM Import.
Whenever the data is scrubbed or manipulated from the original RM Export to get the desired data, sometimes a formatting mark or delimiter may be omitted or added unintentionally and may cause a C++ Runtime Error
