SilkTest by default sets "Show All Classes" to false. (see * below for how to set this option) Once this option is enabled, the level of recognition will be improved and you should have additional layers such as JSplitPanes that were originally ignored. Then you should be able to see the controls you need to test.
Exceptions to this rule would be if the control is a third party control, which has a wrapper around the control, and then SilkTest cannot gain injection unless the correct jar file (see ** below) is used.
* To enable "Show all class" select menu option "Record" followed by "Classes" and when this dialog box appears, ensure that the checkbox "Show all classes" is enabled.
** Depending on the JVM of the application\applet being tested, you would use SilkTest_Java1.Jar if the JVM is less than 1.2. If the JVM of the AUT is equal to 1.2 or greater then the correct jar file to use is SilkTest_Java2.Jar.
