There is a known issue involving SilkTest 2010 R2 and earlier versions which meant that the use of wildcards within an X-Path expression failed to resolve the object. This occured because the wildcard ( */?) was treated as a literal string.

For example, consider the following locator which identifies a Flex Object:

FlexTree[@caption='compLibTree']

Using a wildcard (eg. ? or *) has the result that the tree cannot be found anymore, e.g:

FlexTree[@caption='comp?Tree']
FlexTree[@caption='comp*']

Will result in the error:

Failed to resolve object '/BrowserApplication -> //BrowserWindow -> //FlexApplication -> //FlexTree[@caption='comp*']'

The use of wildcards is now permitted for Flex Objects in the latest releases of Silk Test.

Please upgrade Silk Test to the latest released version to resolve the issue.
