There are currently no plans to fully support DirectWrite / Direct2D for Silk Test. The reason why there is some level of support is that Silk Test needs this for text recognition for use within Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 9 and later versions use DirectWrite and therefore Silk Test understands the DirectWrite functions that are used here. However, as far as we know there are various ways of using the DirectWrite API to render text. Therefore this would require substantial effort for Silk Test to implement general support due to the extensive API.
As a workaround, you should be able to use Image Recognition such as ImageClick() against the application to perform actions against controls which are not recognized by Silk Test.
