This patch is a hotfix only, and has not been completely regression tested. If your VM Explorer environment has not been diagnosed by Micro Focus as having this specific problem, installing this patch may have detrimental consequences. This Hotfix delivers code changes that will be included in future VMX General Release patches for the package(s) listed above. When installing future VMX General Release patches for a listed package, please check the list of Hotfixes contained in that GR patch. If this Hotfix is not listed, then installing the GR Patch will remove the fixes contained in this Hotfix. Please contact your MF Support Representative for advice. ============================================================ This is a consolidated patch containing the below supported platforms in addition to the 7.1.2 defects/enhancements. 1.Incremental backup of virtual machines hosted on ESX 7.0 2.TLS 1.2 for SMTP connections for E-Mail reporting 3.Support of backup/restore of Virtual Machines hosted on Hyper-V 2019 Patch content: ============== - VMXWinService.exe - VMXCommonLib.dll - VMXServiceLib.dll - VMXCore.dll - VMXLib.dll - VddkLibWrapper.dll - VMXAgentManagerService.exe - EASendMail.dll Dependency: =========== The list below shows dependent patches which are pre-requisites for this HF. Without these, the HF will not work. Ensure that they are appropriately installed in your VMX environment. Micro Focus VM Explorer Software version: ----------------------------------------- VM Explorer 7.1.1 General Release Patches: ------------------------ NA How to install: =============== Manually apply patch content on the affected VMX Instance: 1. Create a directory c:\temp. 2. Copy and Unzip "VMX_7.1.3_Hotfix.zip". 3. Close browsers running instances of VMX. 4. Stop "Micro Focus VM Explorer Service" using "services.msc". 5. Goto installation folder. (Default installation path: C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\VM Explorer) Find and rename the following files: - VMXLib.dll to VMXLib_orig.dll - VMXCore.dll to VMXCore_orig.dll - VMXCommonLib.dll to VMXCommonLib_orig.dll - VMXServiceLib.dll to VMXServiceLib_orig.dll - VddkLibWrapper.dll to VddkLibWrapper_orig.dll - VMXAgentManagerService.exe to VMXAgentManagerService_orig.exe - VMXWinService.exe to VMXWinService_orig.exe. 6. Now copy the binaries present in c:\temp folder to the installation folder. 7. Start "Micro Focus VM Explorer Service" using "services.msc" and launch VM Explorer. 8. For Hyper-V environments, do the following steps: - Hyper-V machine needs to have Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.7.1 or above installed for the new binaries to work. - Stop "VMXAgentManagerService" using Task Manager. - Go to the "VMXAgentManagerService" installation folder. (Default Path: C:\Program Files\Trilead\Trilead Agent Manager Service) - Rename the "VMXAgentManagerService.exe" present in the folder to "VMXAgentManagerService_orig.exe". On the VM Explorer Client: - Open VM Explorer Web Interface. - Under "My Datacenter", Right Click on the Hyper-V server and select "Edit Server". - Click "Next" until "Test Connection" page loads. Test connection should fail in the last step, i.e. for "Test VM Explorer Backup Agent" - Click on "Agent Manager" button, now available in the same page. - Click on "Deploy" button, present beside the message "Deploy "Micro Focus Agent Manager" service on Hyper-V server and test connection". - Wait till you get a pop-up saying that the agent manager was successfully deployed. Click on OK. - Close the pop-up to go back to the "Test Connection" page and click on "Retry Test Connection". It should complete without any errors. - Click on "Finish" and then in the "Summary" page, click on "Save". - Click on the Hyper-V server under "My Datacenter". The server should successfully refresh. REMARKS: =============== 1. VMX 7.1.3 contains EASendMail.dll to support TLS 1.2 for email notifications. VMX does not use EASendMail20.dll when using this hotfix. 2. With VMX 7.1.3, the below listed options that do not use the VD service is not supported, because of an issue with vSphere ESXi version 7.0. a. If the selected target host is "Local Computer" or an ESXi server, then below options are not supported - "The target directory must not exist, it will be created." - "If the target directory exists, then it must be empty." - "If the target directory exists, archive existing files in the target directory." - "If the target directory exists, overwrite existing files in the target directory." b. For any target host other than "Local Computer" or an ESXi server, the option "Full backup" is not supported.
