Back in June, the Micro Focus COBOL Development and Mainframe Software teams took part in their first ever Hackweek. An opportunity for over 100 of our developers in design centres across Europe and the USA to spend the week investigating ideas, technologies and features outside of the normal development schedule and process. You can read Phillip Miller's take on the week on our corporate blog.
Innovation and impact
The objective for our developers was to come up with something that would deliver innovation and customer impact, with a team of judges from our Development and Product Management teams deciding on the overall winner.
At the end of the week over 35 projects were submitted with supporting videos. The diversity and creativity impressed the judges though the calibre of entries meant it was very difficult to pick a winner.
Many of the features will be added to the product roadmap, with some likely to be scheduled in the next release. The results were announced and prizes awarded by Neil Fowler and Mark Conway from our HQ, with first prize going to Warren Prescott for his implementation of a File and Record Diff tool.
