what is the reason to use http/html protocol even though an application supports other protocols

Can anyone guide me  in loadrunner why we need to use Web Http/Html protocol for web applications even thought the web application supports other protocols like Trueclient IE, Com/Dcom

  • By definition, a "web application" presents an HTML user interface over HTTP. That's what the web is.

Frankly, I don't understand your question. TruClient for IE is a scriptable HTTP user agent that emulates IE, as far as I'm aware (I've never used it). So it uses HTTP. It's not a protocol.

DCOM is a protocol, but why would LoadRunner support it? LoadRunner is a web-application testing tool, not a every-protocol-ever-invented testing tool.
