Hello Leonid Hazanovich,
Welcome to the OpenText Community site for Micro Focus Visual COBOL. Here are some suggestions for investigating the slowness issue you've mentioned.
First, please note that Visual COBOL 2.3 is a very old product, and is no longer updated by OpenText. We recommend that you upgrade to (at least) Visual COBOL 6.0, as this is the last currently maintained and supported version that was supported on Red Hat 6. Please also note that Visual COBOL 6.0 itself is scheduled to be removed from mainstream support later this year. At that point, only RHEL 7 and above would be supported, and we would recommend that you upgrade to Visual COBOL 9.0, as this is the latest version available.
Next, you might be able to learn more about which portion(s) of the COBOL application are associated with the slowed behavior by using the Profiler feature of Visual COBOL. Profiler can help you isolate which programs (and Paragraphs and Sections within them) are taking the most time to execute. Here is a link to a section about Profiler in the Visual COBOL documentation. Also, there is a set of 3 YouTube videos available on using Profiler, which you might find helpful:
Visual COBOL: Introduction to Micro Focus COBOL Profiler
Visual COBOL: Profiler Advanced Usage
Visual COBOL: Using Profiler in the Eclipse IDE
Finally, investigating performance issues is a complex topic, not well suited to investigation on the Community site. We recommend that you create a Support Case about this problem. For access to our support teams please use our Support Portal, or contact us by phone.
