Micro Focus Enterprise Developer installation failed

Hello

I am trying to install Micro Focus Enterprise Developer 9.0 on Windows Server 2022, but I have an issue.

I have checked all requirements stated in documentation related to windows installation, everything is fine.

The error is :
"Service 'Micro Focus Directory Server' () failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledes to start system services."

I launch the script in both non-administrator and administrator, leading to the same error.
I check online for community solution, I tried this one : https://community.microfocus.com/cobol/visualcobol/w/tips/4063/service-micro-focus-directory-server-mf_5f00_ccitcp2-failed-to-start.
Without any success.

Version of "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistribuable" installed (x86 & x64) is 202214.38.33135.0

Here's the log file:
/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/265/Micro_5F00_Focus_5F00_Enterprise_5F00_Developer_5F00_for_5F00_Eclipse_5F00_20240219152933.log

Is there anything that can be done to resolve this ?

Thank you!

    Hi Pierre,

Did you have a previous version of Enterprise Developer installed on this same system or is this the first version that you have tried to install?

If you had a previous version, then please check the following:

Check for the existence of the following file. If it is there either delete it or update the IP value in it to the actual IP address

    "C:\ProgramData\Micro Focus\Enterprise Developer\mfdsacfg.xml"

    Hi,

    Thank you for you response.

There is not previous version of Enterprise Developer installed on this system.

The mfdascfg.xml is absent for the installation.
When the error occurs, this file has been added and IP value refer to localhost:

    <bind_address>127.0.0.1</bind_address>

That is the correct value in that file.
The .log file has the following entries:

    [309C:09D4][2024-02-19T15:29:40]i358: Pausing automatic updates.
    [309C:09D4][2024-02-19T15:29:40]i359: Paused automatic updates.

Have you tried rebooting to install any Windows updates that may be pending?

I am not really sure what is going on...

Try the following and if that doesn't help, please open a ticket with OpenText Customer Support and we will have to investigate further.

Perform a Repair of the Microsoft VC++ Redistributables (both 86x and 64x). Then try to install the product again.

    +1 in reply to

I fixed my issue adding to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\services file this:

    mfcobol            86/udp

And then tried to reinstall and it works.

Thank you for your anyway !

That is really good news. I don't understand why the install didn't update that file automatically, but I am glad you got it working...
