missing authorization code for free verson of v/cobol personal edition

I downloaded the free version of personal visual cobol from CNET.  When I attempt to open an example project (or any other) the Visual Studio tells me I need an authorization code.  This was a download directly from CNET.

I didn't get an authorization code on a package and I didn't get one in an email as I didn't have to
provide an email address to CNET.

I called support and they told me to come here.  When I try to use online support I need an authorization code to get to them.
This is a conundrum of a sort.

Can anybody tell me how to  obtain an authorization code?  Also, is this a temporary authorization or is it permanent for the personal edition?

  • Hi Chris:

After the installation of Visual COBOL for Eclipse, it asks you to Register the product or use the Personal Edition; either way, it wants me to Authenticate the install and it fails whether I use the automated or manual process.

    NOTE:

I have tried twice to install and uninstall the Personal Edition of Eclipse and it will not recognize my email address. Also, the Manual Registration requires the 16-digit code; but, I was never sent this.

I am reviewing both Eclipse and Visual Studio versions for a Pharmaceutical company that I am consulting for. They are considering a migration from their really old rm/cobol code to Visual COBOL.

Any assistance you can give me to obtain the Authorization code; so I can apply to the Micro Focus License Manager.

    Thanks,
