  • Hi Suresj,

I don't really understand the question here.
Are they compliant with what exactly?

What do you mean by DOS COBOL 85?

If you are looking for compliance with a particular COBOL vender or platform then you should compile with the DIALECT directive for that platform. This will cause it to flag non-compliant language constructs.

    Thanks
  • Thanks Chris. I meant to say, Microfocus Cobol 2.2 for (DOS version). I would like to know if COBOL programs written for Microfocus COBOL 2.2 for DOS Version, would be COBOL 85 standards compliant.

I am not at all COBOL developer, but i am supporting an internal query.
  • Programs written with Visual COBOL or any Micro Focus product can be compliant to the ANSI-85 COBOL standard by using the compiler directive: DIALECT"ANS85" .
This would ensure that language features outside of this dialect would be flagged as errors or warnings.

The default setting is DIALECT"MF" which allows for all Micro Focus COBOL language extensions to be used.
