OO 4.1.5 can´t send Dokument to Mail

Hi,

I Have a new problem, that I can´t fix by my self.

We use OpenOffice in our company as Office-Programm. On new PC´s where we install GW18, and OpenOffice, it is not possible to send dokument as mail out of the OpenOffice. So the user must save the dokument to disk and send them from there. I tried LibreOffice and it works.
But Send an Dokument or an other file with an rightclick to mail or an mailto-link at the internet works great, the problem is OO.

On my one PC there isn´t this problem. But I was upgrade the GW2012-Client to GW18.0.1. So I tried to set the new PC to the same and deinstalled GW18. After an reboot I installed GW2012-Client, the test with OO works an GW18 will open wehen I click on "Dokument to Mail", then I Upgrade to GW18-Client and it still works. but it can´t be the solution that I must install GW2012 first.

Maybe there is an workaround that I have not found for now

Which version of OpenOffice? On one which Windows version/build?
The hooks on how Apps can send to email changed and it looks like the
GW18 client no longer supplies the old way of doing things, so if the
newer way of doing things is in OpenOffice, then we need to figure out
how to add the old hooks for GW back in without a full install of GW12
    client.

  • Hi,

The only thing I can think of that would cause this issue is extended MAPI support was discontinued in GroupWise 18. The extended MAPI components might still be on the pc from older versions of the client - hence it working in that scenario. Sorry, not a solution, but possible explanation.

    Cheers,
  • We saw this behavor with AccountView at a customer site. Indeed upgrading from GW2012 to 18 sending mail from the App works fine, but on a new installed GW18 client sending breaks. Think there is still a SR open on this, but I have to check. Other Apps on the desktop work fine including LibreOffice they leverage.

Since OpenOffice is kind of dead in the water and not so well maintained anymore for quite a while I would suggest you move to LibreOffice. As that works fine as you report that would solve the mailing issue too.
  • We work with OpenOffice 4.1.5 (the newest) and Windows 10 1709 and 1803

We need openOffice because there are programms that don´t work withe Libre

I think it must be posssible to send mails from OpenOffice

because you need the old extended MAPI bits to work with the no longer
updated OpenOffice, you are in work around territory no matter how you
    slice it.
Either have your install process start with the old GW client and
update to 2018, or figure out exactly which are the MAPI files in
question and copy them to new machines.
