Groupwise 18.1 compatiblilty chart with Groupwise 2014 R2

I found this about groupwise 18 compatiblilty and older version of groupwise
https://www.novell.com/documentation/groupwise18/gw18_guide_install/data/inst_appndx_version_linux_current.html#

It only mention Groupwise 2012 and 8. Nothing about Groupwise 2014 R2
Can someone give me a clear picture of what is working between 2018.1 and 2014 R2

What exactly are you after? IMHO that whole documentation section is
vastly superfluous and just complicates a very simple matter:

Older client versions can always access newer post offices, and never
    vice-versa.

Newer admin interfaces can always configure older agents, with the
limitation that GW2014 and up can't manage the eDir objects of pre-2014
    GW versions.

YOu shoudl *NEVER* *EVER* even consider running non-matching agents
against your GW databases. I have no idea why they even mention that.

  • It was a question just for curiosity, I stumbled upon this section about Groupwise 18 with earlier Groupwise version. I understand that you should *NEVER* run a non matching agents against a GW db. I wont try this on our production system but was doing some experiment in a lab environment. Was testing Web Access 18.1 with a Groupwise server 14.2.3. I'm actually looking to upgrade our Groupwise system from 14.2.3 to 18.1. We use also web access 2014.2.3, GMS 2.1 and GMS 14.2.2.5.

Will upgrade with the standard procedure from my primary domain server first before secondary domains, post offices and so on.

I'm not sure what the official word is but I always treat WebAccess
and GMS as "clients" and I keep them in line with the rest of my
GroupWise agents. Never had issues that way.
