One of our users deleted AND EMPTIED their emails en mass. They've lost thousands of emails.
So I have a backup of the GroupWise server, using Veeam. So it's a crash consistent snapshot. The whole VM can be restored and I can access GroupWise on the restored machine, using a client attached to that server.
My question is, how can I get emails from this restored system back to the live system? Is their a simple method I am missing, or a way to take the mail offline on the old system, and bring it back online again?
I thought about archiving the emails in the mailbox to an accessible location, then attaching the live mailbox to that archive folder, but they already have an archive folder full of data, so is this risky? Or can I just rename their live archive, copy across the other one, restore, then revert the renamed archive back to the live one?
