Ability to change From: to a name other than your own

CIO wants the ability to turn off being able to change the FROM: name to something else in the GroupWise Client

e.g From: John Smith but if he types another name in the from it will send with his name in () even if he doesn't have proxy to that account
From: Ted Jones (John Smith)

Is there a way to turn that off at the Domain or Post office level?

Thx

  • HI Christa,

I don't think that you can change this behavior on the client either client end or back end.

Properties of the e-mail will always show the correct, originating, address.

As Laura said, no. It may be worthwhile to instruct your CIO that unless
the mail is signed or encrypted, there is *never* any form of guarantee
that the "from" in a mail is legit. It's extremely similar to the
written sender on a regular letter. Everybody can write everything
there. I can most easily send an email from here into your system that
from all angles seems to come from your CIO (if I know his name and
email address). That's a matter of fact in *every* email system in the
    world.
