GMS 2.0 Initial Feedback

In case this helps anyone ...

I updated my 1.2.5.299 test system as follows :

1. updated to SLES 11 SP3 - verified 1.2.5 still working - all ok
2. Updated to GMS 2.0 using YAST
3. Ran the update.sh

------------------------------

Initial Observations :

1. Existing phones will still be at the 2.5 Activsync level ...
(as displayed in the User section of the admin tool)

To remedy this, I deleted the account on the phone and re-activated.
Activsync now shows as 12.1

2. On one of the BB Q10, all calendar items went missing. Mail was fine.

To remedy this, I deleted the account on the phone and re-activated.
Activsync now shows as 12.1

3. Am getting notification of "Available system memory is low" on the
Dashboard

Have increased server memory from 2 GB to 3 GB
Not sure why I'm getting these mesages when I have less than 5 users on
this test system

Otherwise, So far, so good.

    1. If you had waited they would have switched to 12.1 on there own in a
period of time. I had wondered about that myself.

    2. Can't answer

    3. I tend to run mine with 4 gigs to avoid memory issues. I saw the same
with 3 users versus 25 users.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the feedback. I'll up the memory again

The one phone had been connected to the new system for over a day but
    still showed at 2.5 - that's why I re-initialized it.

Not every device will switch automatically. This is noted in the
    readme.

Is it a worry to leave some devices on Active Sync 2.5? Or loss of functionality from what they had
    before the server was upgraded?
If there isn't a problem with this and the user is happy with what they have, I'd be in favor of
leaving those devices as is until there is an issue, the user wants the new functionality, or just
    normal cycle of support.

All they would lose is any new functionality that 12.1 brings.
