gwmon not running on one cluster node

Hi,

2-node-cluster OES 11 SP2 - since upgrading to GroupWise 2014 R2 gwmon does
not run on one of the two cluster nodes. As far as I can see everything is
identical on both nodes. Calling the binary with or without any options does
not produce any output:

g2:~ # /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin/gwmon --help
gw2:~ # echo $?
0

Cluster log shows:

/etc/init.d/grpwise-ma start
Starting GroupWise Monitor Agent ..failed
local rc=7

Rebooting and re-installing GroupWise-rpms did not help.

MTA and POA are running fine on this node.

Any idea what's wrong?

Thanks,
Mirko

No - not a tool I'm familiar with so far. I'll try it!

    Thanks,
    Mirko
  • Because of low priority this had to wait a while... this is what I found:

    1. gwmon does nothing, not even show help, if there is no
    /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share/monitor.xml:

    gw:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share # ll mon*
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8426 Feb 25 2015 monitor.xml.sample

    gw:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share #
    /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin/gwmon --help

    gw:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share # cp monitor.xml.sample monitor.xml

    gw:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share #
    /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin/gwmon --help
GroupWise Monitor Syntax: gwmon [@configfile.xml] [options]
    /home-[domainpath] Path to domain database.
/ipa-[address] TCP address of a GroupWise MTA.
    [..]

    2. gwmon ignores @/path/to/cluster/monitor.xml

Only when I copied the file from the cluster path to /opt/novell/... gwmon
started successfully. But then I found this was an old config - so obviously
changes while running on the other node were saved to the local default
file, not to the file given with @.

Two bugs? Or do I miss something?

    Thanks,
    Mirko

PS: Of course I have MA_CONFIG changed to the cluster path in
    /etc/init.d/grpwise-ma
