14.0.2 client setup ignores LDAP and gwcheck settings

Hello,

I have edited the setup.cfg according our environment:
Added/changed these entries:

[ShowSetup] # all from yes to no
ShowDialogs=No
ShowProgress=No
ShowFinish=No

[Startup] # added enablelangdlg
Notify=No
EnableLangDlg=No

[GWCheck] # all from no to yes
InstallGWCheck=Yes
GWCheckEnabled=Yes

[LDAP Account 1] # added as described in docs
Description=EKM
Server=<server address>
Port=<port>
SearchRoot=o=<ekm>,c=de
login=FALSE

I noticed while installation, the startup and showsetup settings are
used by installation program (it´s real silent!), but not the other
settings regarding to gwcheck and ldap.

Whats going wrong here?
Did I miss a TID?

  • Hi Gotthard,

    Sorry for the slow response.

    I'm going to ask you a very basic question, and please forgive me if you have already double-checked this! The setup.cfg file is not, to the best of my knowledge, in the "win32" directory by default and needs to be copied to:

    Linux: /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/data/client/setup/win32
    Windows: c:\Program Files\Novell\GroupWise Server\agents\data\client\setup\win32

    Please just check, if you haven't already done so, that you have indeed copied this file to the location indicated above.

    Cheers,

    I´m starting the setup from different places because of GPO limitations.

    webserver (via setupip.exe: setup.cfg along with setup.ini in .\win32
    fileserver (via setup.exe: setup.cfg in .)

    I got different results on my test vm in several installs. Have to find
    a clean uninstall to ensure all stuff is removed from the machine.

    Sometimes the addressbook will be created, sometimes not. Have not found
    a system in this...

  • Hi Gotthard,

    Just a suggestion.... use the client auto-update feature on the Post Office to only update one user. See if that works.

    I've never pushed out GroupWise updates via GPO so don't have any personal experience with that unfortunately :( If I understand you correctly in your previous post this is how you are deploying it?

    Cheers,

    Per the Brainshare 2014 presentation on creating a client bundle, the folder locations for the setup.cfg and setup.ini files should be in:

    –Linux /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/data/client/setup/win32/win32
    –Windows c:\Program Files\Novell\GroupwiseServer\agents\data\client\setup\win32\win32

  • Hi Gathagan,

    You are absolutely correct. Thank you for the correction and the link to the presentation. I'm not too sure how I neglected the additional WIN32 directory at the end of the path but really do appreciate you posting that :)

    Cheers,
