Client shutting down when network connection is lost

The older Groupwise client used to hang whenever the network connection was lost. Our GW 18 clients report an error and then shut down, closing all open mail windows, which is very inconvenient for laptop users regularly changing their location. Is there any way to change this behaviour? The users would prefer waiting for the client rather than restarting it.

    I'm not aware of any change in behaviour. The client has always closed
    itself on loss of connection to the PO. The usual answer for Laptop
    users with intermittend connectivity is to use caching mode.
