Comments on Release 14.2.2

Multiple problems with this Release 14.2.2 build:
1) Inaccurate number count of read vs unread emails in folders.
2) Find function gives inaccurate results when trying to search for messages (misses text that is clearly within messages).
3) Custom views periodically crash client and need to close and restart client.

Also seeing this, did you open an SR?
  • Hi,

With regards to point number 2... If you take a look at a GWCheck log file, find an entry for a user account experiencing the Find issue, look for something like this:

    Checking user = lbuckley (658 / 59) 247808 bytes, 05/11/17 01:00 (Laura Buckley [])
    - Current time 2:00:22 am
    STRUCTURAL VERIFICATION of database /groupwise/po1/ofuser/user658.db
    Verifying data
    - Database is structurally consistent
    - Space that could be recovered: 1024 bytes
    Quickfinder: Pending jobs = 0 Files = 5913b7a6.idx, 5913390a.inc

In your sample user how many Pending Jobs are listed, if any?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers,
  • Sorry to piggyback onto this thread, but I've having multiple issues with one user (mostly missing folders and emails), since upgrading from 2012sp4 to 2014.2.2.
What caught my eye was Laura's mention on Pending Jobs. My problem user has this in the gwcheck log :

    Quickfinder: Pending jobs = 2127 Files =

    Could this be connected?
    Thanks
    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

The Quickfinder Pending jobs number is excessively high and could indicate a much larger issue with your GroupWise system. I need you to check the other users for the same line and let me know how many users are affected i.e. with such large numbers of pending jobs.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers,
  • Hi Laura,
Hmmm, I do have quite a few users with large numbers of pending quickfinder jobs, but those users don't seem to be experiencing any other issues.
I did see another possible problem too. There were lots of lines in the log like this :
    Checking user = pufc0101.db ( / 0) 106496 bytes, 05/15/17 11:04 (kcollins.DOCS.Mail [])
This user no longer exists, and the account was deleted sometime ago. Also, this user is on a different post office, so I'm not sure why I'm seeing
    them at all.

My main problem user is missing lots of folders (including system folders), mails and appointments. If he logs into webmail, everything is there.
In caching mode, everything is there. But in online mode, things are missing.

    Thanks for your help!
    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

It would appear that you have several issues with your GroupWise system. I going to suggest that we deal with your problem user in this thread. I recommend starting a new thread on the topic of your Quick Finder indexing as that's a whole different ball game. Do the same for the errors you are receiving on prime user databases (puxxxxx.db).

For your problem user. Log them out of GroupWise, Notify, and WebAccess. Run GWCheck | Analyze/Fix Databases | untick Structure | tick Contents | tick Fix Problems | on the Misc. tab enter "resfldr" into the Options entry box [no quotation marks].

Please try that and let us know how it goes.

    Cheers,
  • Hi Laura,
Ok, I'll start another thread for the Quick Finder indexing.

I ran GWCheck with the options you suggested, with the following results :

    Uncorrectable conditions encountered:
    - No problems found
    Correctable conditions encountered:
    CODE DESCRIPTION COUNT
    ---- -------------------------------------------------- -----
102 Contact folders out of sync........................ 1
    *********************************************************************

This hasn't made any difference to the folders that the user can view, in online mode.

    Regards
    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Please advise if the "missing" folders are Shared folders.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
  • Hi Laura,

No, the missing folders aren't shared. They are a mixture of folders in the cabinet and some system folders.

More precisely, his online and caching folder list is the same up to a folder 3 levels deep in his cabinet.
Everything after that folder is missing and everything before that folder is present.

    Thanks again for your help
  • Also, I've just noticed that if I add or delete a folder from his cabinet, all of the missing folders suddenly reappear.

Exiting the client and then logging back in, however, and the folders are missing again.
