Active Directory for LDAP

We only need eDir for Groupwise any more. So the passwords are not synchronized.
I would not switch to Groupwise authentication, so is there a way to use ActiveDirectory as the LDAP server??

Sure. Never done it myself, AFAIK the only problem is you have to populate the LDAP authentication field for each and every Groupwise account.

Officially... no. AD is not yet supported as the LDAP auth source with
    Data Sync.

Sorry, I didn't realize I'm in the datasync forum.

Right - and as Joe points out, this is the DataSynchronizer server, so
technically the "web interface" for DataSync does not support AD for
authentication (i.e., for the admin users or for users to set up their address
books, etc.), but if you are using LDAP auth for GW through AD, even
DataSynctronizer will use that for device authentication. However you DO set it
to GW authentication, and not LDAP on the DataSync server, even though that
seems contrary to what seems logical.
