GW rules wrong effect

GW 2014 LDAP AD environment, one GW system, one PO.

Anybod any idea? I have a mailbox that should be able to forward all external mail to another (same PO) mailbox. Internal mail should be kept in the original mailbox. In the rules, I defined that

IF the sending user contains [PO_NAME] or [GWSYSTEM_NAME] (PO_NAME and GWSYSTEM_NAME being the real names of the PO / the GW system), mail should not be forwarded and should be kept in the original mailbox.

In my opinion, that should be sufficient. However, this exception does not work, all internal and external mail is being forwarded to the second mailbox (which should not be happening of course).

Because of this, I added additional exceptions, notably being that if the sender contains @domain_name (domain_name being the actual mail DNS domain name), mail should not be forwarded. Doesn't help either.

Anybody any clue as to how to achieve this selective forwarding?

Cheers,

Jan

...but as a quickshot (i.e. until someone with proper skills jumps in) i'd define an X-field which gets added by the scan engine of your choice on mail coming in from the internet.
    for me e.g. something like
act on items where (item type is mail) and ('x-rbl-sophos' contains something)
there are for sure more sophisticated ways to accomplish is but it works for me on a quick test.

You could use your domain name. For example, I set up the following rule
where the event is New Item and the items are Received. I then defined
conditions where the From does not contain novell.com. I added the
action to Forward and selected my gmail account.

This forwarded everything that come into my inbox that was not from an
internal address to my external gmail account.

Give this a shot and see if it will work for you.

    Thanks,

    Pam

  • Hi.

If "view name" = "Internet" the mail come from the internet, or of
    course, if != it's internal.

  • Hi all, thanks for your input. I'm on holiday right now. Will keep all posted after my holiday :-) Thanks, Jan
  • Hello Massimo, I know that "view name" is a field. Now as to the value of it. You mention "Internet". Is that a fixed value or something that I have to match to any local situation? In the latter case: where can I find the value of "view name"?

    Cheers,

"Internet" is the default value GWIA writes into emails, but it is
configurable. I don't know if it's still exposed in the admin interface
    though. It was in ConsoleOne.

  • Ah that one. I remember. I'll have to check indeed if this value still exists and I'll post back results.

The value definitely still exists, and if nobody changed it
deliberately, it will be "Internet". I just don't know for sure if it's
still shown in the admin interface of the GWIA.

Confirmed, that "view name" is set to 'Internet' from GWIA
but on a fairly quick look, I can't find where to configure it on post
    ConsoleOne systems
nor can I see it in the message such as via Message Source or Properties,
nor can I see it in the web console or config file.

Interesting, I wonder what else gets hidden in that field or how we'd get
to see what is used, hmmm.
