I have a site that wants me to upgrade their GW to 2012. Currently running GW8 on NetWare. Their remote sites have a little bit of everything as far as client, but the oldest client I have seen out there being used is 6.5. I know the GW7 client will work against the 2012 poa, but will 6.5?

Iffy. I actually have to do some fussing to get both GW7 and GW2012 to work on the same server reliably. I'm not sure I even tested the 6.5 client. Every site where we're upgraded from that far back, we've upgraded the clients right away. I guess the best I can say is "try it and see".
Yeah, that is the plan. Most of his sites are up to date but he has a couple that are still running 6.5 clients, why I have no idea. There are REMOTE from him. He just asked me the question and I wasn't sure if the 6.5 client would work against it temporarily til he could get them updated. I thought there was some doc from Novell that showed what clients would work with what version, but I can't find it. I was just curious if anyone had ever tried the 6.5 client against to the 2012 poa. I know the GW7 client will since I just did a site from 7 to 2012, and he temporarily used the 7 client til he could get them upgraded.

I have a customer that just upgraded from GW65 to GW2012 and they have temporarily been using the 6.5 client against the upgraded system until they can get all the clients upgraded. They had a little flakiness but overall it seems to be working for them.

Yep - even GW 7 can be "iffy". What I've found is that you have to put the GW2012 views into the PO first, and the RECOPY the GW7 views over them in order to get the GW7 client to work reliably on a GW 2012 PO. There might be some of that in GW 2012 as well. However, since these are "remote" users in your case, they have their views local to their own machine, and that will actually help overall. It's when you are trying to mix live access to GW 2012 and any client older than GW8 really where you start to run into little tweaks to get it all to work.
