Address book lookup not working since update to 2.1

Last week we updated our GroupWise Mobility Service (formerly Datasync) to 2.1 from 2.0. Since this update, users have no longer been able to query the GroupWise address book (the system address book, not synchronized address books) when sending mail from mobile devices. We're seeing this on iOS, Android and Blackberry 10 devices. Apart from the update, no settings have been changed.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues, or any suggestions for troubleshooting?

In the GMS admin, what user is configured for doing GAL lookup? Is
that still a valid GW user? What if you change it to another user (and
restart services after making the change)?

  • I did check that. It's a valid user. Just for kicks I changed it to myself and restarted the services and am having the same experience.

  • I ended up opening a SR for this one... we had to go all Scorched Earth on it, eventually.

Working with mcheck, we found that the GroupWise address book could not be found by GMS. Normally, GMS takes the GroupWise Address Book and stores in in a table. We checked that table with:

    psql -U datasync_user mobility -c "select * from gal;"

When it returned 0 rows, we knew where the problem was...

We ran /opt/novell/datasync/update.sh to verify database schema and force a sync. This didn't help, still 0 rows.

At this point it was time for Scorched Earth...

psql -U datasync_user mobility -c "delete from gal;"

    and

psql -U datasync_user mobility -c "delete from galsync;"

completely removed all traces of the address book from the database and a restart of GMS forced a fresh sync. Within a few minutes (apparently it can take up to an hour) my query returned more than 1000 rows and devices were autocompleting addresses again.

    Hope this helps everyone out...
  • Thank you for posting this solution. I was able to repair our GAL sync
    with just the update.sh.
